What are the alternatives?
DANA DRIVE. Keep the current site, close Old Alturas Drive and acquire the landscape space from the neighbor. Coming west on Old Alturas turn south on Victor for one block to Dana Drive which has right and left turns at every intersection. Coming west on old Alturas drive directly into parking lot. Highway 44, a divided freeway, is one block from the Costco site.
Increase floor space 15 percent, add 20 gas pumps maybe more and at least 80 parking spaces. Offsite costs are a fraction of those for Bonnyview site. Access is superior. Store smaller than proposed , but will strengthen the existing neighborhood rather than degrade the Bonnyview Bechelli neighborhood.

OASIS ROAD. The EIR for South Bonnyview says Oasis is a superior site. Immediate access to I-5, no traffic circles, few directly adjacent residences. The City already improved the I-5 Oasis interchange at a substantial cost using Traffic Impact Fees assessed elsewhere in the City. The full EIR has been completed and approved.
The site is currently being graded to provide for the protection and enhancement of Salt Creek that runs through the property.
According to local media, the negotiations between the project developer, the City and Costco broke down over financial and development agreements. Now every effort should be made for reconciliation with full public disclosure as the residents of the City are now heavily impacted by the proposed location at the Bonnyview site, the major restriction of traffic flow on South Bonnyview Road, as well as the burden of paying off the loans for the construction to accommodate it.
